Nutrition Counseling can help you:

There are many factors that can contribute to having difficult relationships with food and body. Nutrition Counseling focuses on understanding what those factors are and determining the best way to help you move forward.
By helping you explore your patterns, beliefs, fears and difficulties around food, exercise and your body, you can start rebuilding these relationships and learn how to eat, move and live in a way that is supportive, sustainable, flexible and nourishing.

Your relationship with your body is about so much more than what you see in the mirror. It's also about reconnecting to the felt experience of your internal world. In other words, understanding how to connect to the body through a Somatic lens.
As a Certified Befriending Your Body® Teacher, I incorporate somatic skill building into our work together and help you develop a deeper understanding of your nervous system and its role in disordered eating.

You have likely been through so much on your journey up until now. And whether this is your first time reaching out for support or you are returning to Nutrition Care, you should know that you are more capable of healing than you even realize.
Our work together incorporates teachings of self-compassion and nervous system regulation so you can build a resilient, lasting recovery that you can not only be proud of, but that also allows for ongoing growth and learning.

If you're don't see what you're looking for listed above, you can schedule a consult or email Edda@thoughtfullynourished.com to find out if we can support you.

The short answer is: All Registered Dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are Registered Dietitians.
More specifically, the term "nutritionist" is an unregulated term, so regardless of how much education a person does or does not have, anyone can decide to call themselves a nutritionist.
The term Dietitian (or Registered Dietitian) can only be used by those who have completed an extensive, accredited educational program, a rigorous internship program with over 1,200 hours of supervised practice, and who then pass a national board exam. All Dietitians must also meet continuing education requirements to remain credentialed, and follow a Code of Ethics.
FUN FACT: You may have seen Dietitians using two different credentials: RD vs. RDN, but they are actually one in the same. They simply stand for Registered Dietitian vs. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, and each Dietitian can choose which credential they would like to use in practice.
Of course not! Our Nutrition Services can support a wide variety of nutritional concerns (click HERE to see what's listed on our website).

Intuitive Eating (as created by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch) is a useful, evidence-based approach that can help folks improve their relationship with food, and it can often be incorporated into our work together.
With that said, if you are working on your Eating Disorder recovery, there are some factors to consider regarding when it could be best to introduce Intuitive Eating into the process.
It's okay to have concerns about your body and/or your weight. So many people do. Working together can help you explore and understand your concerns, how you feel in your body, and ways to support your health and well-being without getting so caught up in the numbers.
We believe one of the most valuable things you can learn is how to rebuild your relationships with food, eating, movement and your body, and start shifting your focus away from the scale and onto creating sustainable choices that align with the kind of life you want to live. So that way, you can feel your best from the inside out.
Your first session focuses on getting to know more about your health, your food and nutrition-related history, as well as what you'd like to change (what your goals and/or priorities are). From there, we make a plan and schedule your next follow-up session.
Follow-up sessions are meant to support you as you start making changes and trying new things. These sessions involve the deeper work of exploring, counseling and educating. As we move from session to session, we assess and adjust the plan as needed. The number of follow-up sessions you'll need is based on your individual needs and goals and can be discussed during our time together.
All sessions are video calls using our secure, telehealth platform.
You can schedule a 15-minute phone consult by clicking HERE, or you can email your questions to Edda@thoughtfullynourished.com, where you'll receive a reply within 1-2 business days.
